Modern red wine from the New World Chateau Los Boldos Tradition Reserve Syrah (Chateau Los Boldos Tradition Reserve Syrah) belongs to the basic line of the Chilean economy Los Boldos. Despite its affordable price, it is distinguished by its impeccable quality and amazing depth, given to it by French oak. The wort is infused on the skins, and then fermented in steel vats. The syrah wine, grown in the Cachapoal Valley, is aged for six months in oak barrels until it acquires an impeccable structure and a rich, but elegant character. The Chateau Los Boldos farm is one of the oldest in Chile. According to some reports, the first vines were planted in 1850. The word "chateau" in the name is no coincidence — the winery was founded by immigrants from Alsace. The farm's wines are made from grapes grown exclusively in its own vineyards in the Cachapoal Andes region. 170 hectares are planted with varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, chardonnay, merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and syrah. All wines have a reserve category, which means a minimum aging in oak for 6 months, and also that these wines are the best in the producer's portfolio. The concept of Chateau Los Boldos is the creation of premium—level wines, which are the result of the union of a unique Chilean terroir and French winemaking traditions. In 2008, the farm joined the influential Portuguese family company Sogrape. This merger allowed for significant reforms, thanks to solid investments in vineyards, a winery and a bottling line. The farm is proud of its European heritage and Chilean origin. Skillfully combining both these qualities, Vigna Los Boldos produces some of the best premium Chilean wines.
