Hawthorn (Crataégus sanguínea) is a shrub of the Rosaceae family. The flowers of this plant are small, white, in very dense and corymbose inflorescences. The collection period is June. The flowers of the plant in folk medicine have long been used for diseases of the cardiovascular system; an immunomodulatory, anti-cold and antiviral agent, relieves irritability and excessive nervousness; normalizes and improves sleep. Improves the work of the genitourinary system, metabolism in the body; removes “bad” cholesterol, stabilizes the menstrual cycle; useful for angina pectoris, atherosclerosis. Contains (flowers): saponins, organic acids, quercitin, tannins, glycosides, vitexin, fatty oils, micro- and macro elements, etc. Methods of application and preparation. Infusion: 2 tbsp.l. pour 250 ml. of hot water, insist for 20 minutes, strain. The method of admission depends on the method of treatment and the disease. Usually 100 ml. – 3 times a day before meals. Tincture: 1 tbsp.l. flowers + 2 tbsp.l. hawthorn berries per 200 ml. vodka, infuse for 7-14 days. Strain, take 30 drops inside 3 times a day. There are many types of decoctions and infusions. Contraindications: for individual intolerance, low blood pressure, peptic ulcer, during pregnancy and lactation, the period after stroke, children under 12 years old. Overdose leads to stomach cramps, vomiting, lowering blood pressure.
