    Basic information

The Green City plant Nursery was founded in 2004 for the cultivation of ornamental woody and shrubby plants and is located in the Buturlinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The nursery's production areas occupy 3.5 hectares of fertile land, of which 1 hectare is a container cultivation site. The nursery's assortment is formed taking into account the climatic and ecological features of the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as on the basis of regulatory documentation recommended for landscaping populated areas and industrial territories and its own marketing research of the market of supply and demand in the field of urban and private landscaping. Seeds and vegetative material (cuttings) of indigenous and introduced plant species that have successfully proven themselves in the harsh and unpredictable conditions of our climate are used for growing planting material. Since most of the plants are grown "from scratch" (by seed or vegetative method of reproduction), we have the opportunity to trace the growth and development of a particular type (variety) of plants throughout the entire period of cultivation in the nursery, as a result, all our plants are frost-resistant and resistant to pests and diseases and are successfully used in green construction of both private and public (urban) territories. The main activity of the plant nursery "Green City" is the production and sale of high—quality planting material (seedlings) of decorative coniferous and deciduous trees and shrubs with a closed root system (ZKS), i.e. grown in plastic pots or PE bags of high strength. Planting material with a closed bark system has many advantages, but the main one is planting plants throughout the growing season (from early spring to late autumn) without compromising their survival. Planting of plants with an open root system is possible only in early spring (from the moment of thawing of the soil to the beginning of leaf budding) and in autumn (during the period of mass leaf fall and ending 1-2 weeks before the onset of stable negative temperatures). But if the necessary planting and care measures are followed, plants with a "bare root" have a high survival rate (90-95%) and remain in high demand during mass plantings. The newest method, which also allows to overcome seasonality and significantly extend the planting time, is the storage of seedlings with an open root system in cold storage chambers, in which seedlings can be stored from late autumn to early spring or from the time of thawing of the soil until late spring – early summer. This method allows you to increase the planting time to 2-3.5 months per year. This service is provided by prior agreement.
