Coffee or coffee tree (Latin Coffea) is a genus of evergreen plants of the Coffee tribe (Coffeeae) and belong to the Madder family (Rubiaceae). Wild coffee trees live in the highlands of tropical Africa and Asia, are cultivated everywhere in the tropics – the so-called coffee belt of the Earth. Most of the species are small trees or large shrubs, up to 10 meters high. In indoor conditions, they often take the form of a bush. In the process of evolution, the plant has "learned" to protect itself from insect pests by producing and accumulating a repellent – caffeine, which is contained in all parts.
